Heroes Camp provides life-changing spiritual guidance for the purpose of empowering young boys, adolescents and young men into productive citizens
An interracial couple who fell in love while attending West Georgia College in Carrollton, Ga. It was the early 1970’s. Richard Nixon was President, racial tensions were high, discrimination was widespread, and Pat Magley and Bobbie Jean Simmons (BJ) made the unlikely mistake of falling in love in the Deep South.

Pat was gifted with uncanny basketball skills, intelligence, and a charismatic personality. He was a sure bet to be drafted into the National Basketball Association. BJ, was a beautiful young lady with a strong personality and a powerful fluffy Afro that reflected her pride and positive self-image. Pat had to make a decision, he had to choose between his love for basketball, and the love of his life, Bobbie Jean Simmons. His college coach told him, “I can get you to the NBA, but not with her.” Stubborn, determined, and young, Pat thought he could be with BJ and still play in the NBA. It did not happen. God had something bigger for them. Thus started the journey to the Heroes Camp, a journey that would not only enrich their lives, but also bless many young men and bring glory to God.
